Project Start up

There are many schools of thought on project management offering a different approach to this discipline,
however they all converge on two axioms:

action defined at the beginning of a project will eventually result in minor costs and will be more effective.

If a project is well organized and equipped with all the necessary and reliable tools, it will be more easily managed and completed while meeting the expected results and the company targets.

By taking advantage of the team’s knowledge and experience, PDA has been able to define and regulate a winning approach for the project start up, focused on the key factors fundamental to create a proper breakdown of the scope of work (WBS) and the costs, setting proper indicators to be monitored during the entire project lifecycle as to reliably evaluate the effectiveness of the different strategies and of the undertaken actions, as well as evaluating the relevant performances.

Documents Package

There are many documents that need to be prepared and released in order to properly manage all the activities of a project. These documents are necessary to combine the contractual requirements (typically different for each contract) with the company processes and operational tools, which are clearly defined and thoroughly checked by the company quality system (therefore unvaried).

Using the project’s documents, the project management team can:

  • keep the client aware about the processes to be implemented for the execution of the project. In the event that the client did not agree, they could be commented (if requested by the contract) before the connected activities were performed thus avoiding belated discussions, refusals and remakes.

  • Provide all parties involved in the development of the project with a clear description of the operational plans, the tools to be adopted, the formats to use as well as the roles and responsibilities during the project lifecycle at any given time.

  • Provide a structured reference point for quality control: HOW CAN A NON-REGULATED PROCESS BE REPEATED AND CONTROLLED?

PDA can prepare the necessary documents which can be selected within a package based on the evaluation of contractual requirements.

Project Control

PLANNING + COSTS CONTROL

PDA has a systemic approach to control the project, which starts from the definition of the BASELINE according to the project schedule (budget planning and advancement), that should guarantee the achievement of results, practically what is wished for, to be later compared to the CURRENT STATUS that, on the other hand, represents reality.
By comparing the BASELINE and the registered CURRENT STATUS, PDA evaluates the performances to measure the effectiveness of both management and the implemented actions and by doing so, estimates the resources needed to complete the job. In practice, PDA periodically provides a final result projection based on the actual registered performances.

PROJECT ASSESSMENT

Assessment of the current status of the project, estimation of the physical progress, forecast for the completion of the project and risk analysis.

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

PDA can assist the Client with the following activities:

  • contract examination, both at project start up and during its entire duration

  • drafting of subcontracts agreements and purchase orders

  • risks and opportunities evaluation

  • claims preparation and discussion (claims management)

Training

PDA is available to share the PROACTIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT concepts organizing workshops and training sessions, to be held at the Client’s location, also providing useful educational material and final assessment questionnaires.
